Overview
This policy applies to the FrostBooks Android app (package com.krossreg.frostbooksplayer) and is provided by the FrostBooks developer. FrostBooks does not operate a server that receives your library, reading history, voice samples, or account details, and it does not sell personal data.
Your audiobooks, ebooks, bookmarks, reading statistics, voice samples, cloned voices, and synthesized speech are processed and stored locally unless you deliberately use one of the external features below.

Data kept on your device
FrostBooks stores the following in its private app storage or local database:
- library metadata, cover art, bookmarks, collections, progress, and statistics;
- settings and Android Storage Access Framework folder permissions;
- downloaded text-to-speech models and public voice source files;
- voice samples and cloned voice model files created on your device;
- optional Goodreads and StoryGraph session cookies, sync queues, and local logs; and
- temporary image, reader, playback, and network caches.
FrostBooks does not upload ebook text, audiobook audio, voice-cloning samples, cloned voice models, or synthesized narration to a FrostBooks server. Voice cloning and speech synthesis run on the device.

When data leaves your device
Book covers and author images
When FrostBooks looks up online artwork, it sends a search containing a book title, author name, or known title to DuckDuckGo Images, Open Library, Wikipedia/Wikimedia, and the image host selected from the results. Those services also receive routine network information such as your IP address and user agent. Results are cached locally. No FrostBooks account identifier is added to these requests.
Optional Goodreads and StoryGraph sync
If you choose to connect one of these services, its sign-in page opens in an Android WebView. Your credentials are submitted directly to that service; FrostBooks does not read or store your password. FrostBooks stores the resulting session cookie locally and uses it to send book title, author, content type, reading status, progress percentage, and completion date to the connected service. Sync can happen in the background after you connect it. Disconnecting removes the local connection; data already saved to the service remains subject to that service's policy and account controls.
Local-network casting
When you select a Google Cast or Sonos device, FrostBooks sends the selected audio, synthesized narration, artwork, and playback metadata directly across your local network to that device. FrostBooks' local media stream may use unencrypted HTTP, as required by compatible receivers, so use casting only on a network you trust. The Google Cast SDK also sends encrypted, anonymized Cast interaction and device/app metadata to Google for aggregate product performance and diagnostics; Google states that those logs do not contain identifiers traceable to a specific user.
Google Play purchases
Google Play handles payment details under Google's terms. FrostBooks never receives your card or bank details. The app can receive product, purchase status, and purchase token information from Google Play to unlock and acknowledge a purchase. FrostBooks does not send this information to a developer-operated server.
Downloaded TTS assets
When narration assets are missing, FrostBooks downloads the selected model and public voice source files from Hugging Face. The request identifies the requested asset and includes routine network information such as your IP address. It does not include your books, book text, library metadata, voice sample, or cloned voice model.
These services apply their own privacy practices. Review the policies for DuckDuckGo, Open Library / Internet Archive, Wikimedia, Goodreads, StoryGraph, Google, and Hugging Face.

Permissions and storage
FrostBooks uses Android's Storage Access Framework so you choose the audiobook and ebook folders the app may read. It does not request broad all-files access. Network and Wi-Fi state permissions support online lookups, TTS downloads, sync, Cast, and Sonos discovery. Notification and foreground-service permissions support background playback.

Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you delete an item, use Settings → Reset all app data, clear FrostBooks storage in Android Settings, or uninstall the app. Reset all app data clears FrostBooks' database, settings, downloaded models, voice files and cloned models, internal artwork, logs, caches, WebView cookies/storage, and persisted folder permissions. It does not delete the external audiobook or ebook files you selected through Android's file picker.
FrostBooks cannot delete information held in your Goodreads, StoryGraph, Google, Hugging Face, or other third-party accounts and logs. Use the relevant service's account and privacy controls for those requests.

Security
Internet features use HTTPS. Private app data is protected by Android's application sandbox, and Android backup is disabled for FrostBooks v1 so app state and cloned voices are not copied into Android cloud backup. Local-network casting is the exception noted above and should be used only on a trusted network. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Children
FrostBooks is a general-audience media app and is not directed to children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect children's personal information through a FrostBooks-operated service because no such service exists.

Changes to this policy
This file will be updated before a release materially changes FrostBooks' data practices. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
